6 months

We survived the first 6 months.
Still not in a routine.
Still have no time for anything. Really - how do people do it?
I barely get dinner on the table and I am done.
So very exhausted. She still feeds every 2 hours - even through the night.
But boy is she worth it. She makes my heart so very happy.
She is an absolute joy.
She got her 2 bottom teeth a month ago. And has been rolling for 2 months. No sitting or crawling yet. Cannot wait for that to start.

I love my sweet girl

She's here

Well actually she's been here for a month - I've just been in a foggy haze of sleep deprivation.

Onto the story - On March the 14th the hubby and I went out to test drive a car. It was a hot day and we got home late in the afternoon. I started having contractions - just like every other day. I was quite sore in my back though and got out the hot water bottle to try and relieve the pain. The contractions tapered off and I went to bed at about 10:30pm.
I woke at midnight to go to the toilet and my waters broke. Contractions were instant. Really strong and a minute & a half apart. I called the hospital and they said to have a cup of tea and take my time and come in. I thought great -I'll wake hubby up with a coffee and have a shower. By the time I'd had a shower, the contractions were worse and I just woke hubby and pushed him out the door. We were at the hospital at 1am.
After a while they gave me some gas - which I was sucking on for dear life. Kinda wondering when I'd be able to have an epidural - coz boy I wanted one!!
I heard the midwife say we'll check her after this next contraction and organise an epi. Well the next contraction was too late. She was on her way out. I yelled out that she was coming. They ripped off my pyjamas and she came flying out with 3 pushes. And I hadn't even been examined yet! The time was 2:25am.

Miss Millie Jane weighed in at 3.67kg. The smallest of all my babies.
I couldn't wait to take her home.
We've had a bit of a hard road with feeding every 2 hours round the clock since birth - and finally discovering she has silent reflux. But hopefully we can get it all sorted out soon - and maybe get some sleep.
Love this little girl so much!

My sister said it best....

"you look like you are going to explode" - and well that's exactly how I'm feeling right about now.  34 weeks and 3 days today. Cannot wait for this little girl to arrive.
In the meantime, I've been buying a few more clothes.
Which of course means more washing.

And I finally picked up her first album. This wasn't the one I wanted but it was the only pink one I could get at Spotlight.

We had a scan this week and everything is going well. She weighs about 2.5kg. If that means she's on track to weigh 3.5kg at birth, then I am a happy camper!
If only these last weeks would move a little quicker!

January - blinked and missed it

Well January saw our first holiday away in 15 years. We were so excited.
It was a disaster from the first minutes. My oldest got sick. We arrived right on midday in 32 degree heat. Which was a bit too much for my pregnant body to handle.
Hubby bought me a portable air con to try and help me cool down. And I spent many hours in the pool but just couldn't get the painful swelling down.
We decided to cut our holiday short and head home on the second night.
It may not have been for long but I treasure every minute we got to spend together. We're already planning our next trip after bubby arrives.

We celebrated hubby's 40th and my littlest going back to school. So this week has been all about the early starts and packing lunches.
I still haven't finished making my nappy bag. Bad girl!! The third trimester is kicking my butt!!
Hoping to get organised in the next week. Get my bag packed for hospital and everything washed and ready to go. Just in case.

Thirty Five

So this is not where I imagined I'd be on my 35th birthday - but I couldn't be happier.
We've wanted another baby for the past 10 years - so to nearly be there is amazing! Although I am struggling in the heat. I've only had winter babies before.
So today - I am spending it in the air con. As I did yesterday.
And enjoying my birthday present from my beautiful hubby (I think he got sick of rubbing my feet)
And my sweet mumma bought me a pregnancy massage - that will be happening on Wednesday. Cannot wait for that!!
This year is going to be amazing. Such big changes. And I'm really looking forward to them all.

Not as productive

So 2013 turned out to be not as productive as previous years. Mostly due to falling pregnant and being practically bed ridden for the first 4 months - and then my crafty mojo disappearing completely.
But here is what I did get done:
I made a couple of bags, a couple of quilts, some baby goods, a couple of baby swaddlers, some pants and 2 dresses.
On the immediate list to happen in the first month of 2014 is the nappy bag, some more pants for bubby, a couple of cot sheets, a quilt and a changing mat. And if I can squeeze it in - a few dresses for her first birthday.
What are your crafty goals for the new year?

Christmas

This year I made the conscious choice to take it easy. I knew it wasn't going to be easy in this heat so I didn't put alot of pressure on myself.
On Christmas Eve, I prepared everything that I could for the next day. So all I had to do on Christmas was serve it and wash up. Easy Peasy.
I spent most of Christmas Day in the pool. It was so relaxing. Just enjoying our last Christmas as a family of four.
So ready for this bubba to come. 11w and 5 days to go. Although you'd swear I was ready to pop now. I am huge!!
Now that Chrissy is over - I'm going to try and turn my attention to finishing up that nappy bag. And get my oldest girl organised to go back to school.
It's my birthday in a week - so trying to come up with a plan for that, although right now a sleep in and a massage are the only things I want to do.

Have a Happy New Year!

Hospitals, tests and big boys

A little hospital visit. A bit of a scare - but everything is ok at the moment.
Belly getting bigger. I had my Glucose Tolerance Test. Wasn't that fun.
I had to be tested because I have previously had big babies. And I guess because I am alot older this time around. And wider!
It was yuck. The liquid tasted like undiluted cordial. I got it down as fast as I could.
And in good news - my beautiful boy has graduated high school. So proud of him.
He had his formal last night and in his words, he had an awesome time!

Got another busy week ahead - but hoping to fit in a little sewing time.
Have a Happy weekend!

Pink

So I've been slowly increasing the pink in our household lately.
I forgot how little they are.
And after a week at the mechanics - I finally got my car back. And could finally get my stereo installed. Loving it!
My little sweetpea bought home some dessert. Love when she gets something that I like. She's a keeper.
And I started cutting out bag pieces. But only got as far as the exterior fabric. I wish there were little magic sewing fairies to come and cut it all out for me.
I think the rest of the cutting will be a job for tomorrow and the weekend. I need to take it slowly (which is so frustrating) as I get sore too quickly.
I've been up since 3:00am. I'm off to the hospital today. It's going to be a long, long day.

Have a good one!

It's a....

Girl!
We are so excited to be having a girl. Already having one of each - I really didn't mind either way. But this whole time I couldn't imagine her being anything other than a sweet little girl - and she is. Well, in reality she'll probably be a sweet BIG girl.
Can't wait to meet her.
